About the consultancy

Balanced Horse Care is run by an experienced horse trainer and equine welfare consultant with a degree in Animal Welfare and Management and natural horsemanship training post-university.

With 30+ years of hands-on experience working with horses of all types, breeds, and backgrounds — from young horses in early training to older horses with complex management needs — the consultancy was founded out of a genuine desire to make thoughtful, evidence-informed horse care accessible to more owners.

The academic grounding in animal welfare science sits alongside practical, real-world experience. That combination means consultations are never purely theoretical — they're grounded in what actually works for horses and the people who care for them.

The consultancy operates entirely online, which means horse owners across the UK (and beyond) can access support without geographical limitations. Whether you're in a rural yard with limited local expertise nearby, or simply want an independent second opinion, Balanced Horse Care is here. 

Occasional site visits are available if required for hands-on support.
